Office hours. It really was one of his least favorite times. The door was open, but he secretly hoped no one would walk through the threshold. Especially today.
Of all the days…
“Daddy. No, that is not how you do it.”
His heart was full to bursting every time Fiona said daddy. She had him wrapped around his little finger.
Sitting in the corner of his office was a small kids sized table and chairs set, typically filled with art supplies, paper, stuffed animals and blocks. Today, it was a tea party, and Gideon was one of the attendees. But this wasn’t just any tea party, it was a DRESS UP tea party.
Fiona was fascinated with the Blackwood & Son’s shop, filled with fabulous colors and rich fabrics. This had started an obsession with an over the top dress up collection of clothes and accessories in every color of the rainbow. With his skill as a tailor, he had even made her a few dresses when the mood struck.
Today was different than most days. Typically she would be with the nanny, working with her home school assignments. Today, the nanny was under the weather and needed time to rest. So, that left Gideon to watch over his future daughter. “What do you mean Little Love, I’m wearing it just fine.”
Fiona got up out of her seat, the look of exasperation on her face. “No. Daddy, it is NOT right.” Walking up to the man, who was precariously sitting on a small child’s chair with his right leg crossed over the left. Fiona looked at Gideon, sighed and adjusted the princess crown on his head so that it sat straight.
“There, that’s better. Now you're super pretty!” Fiona said, very happy with herself.
The large smile on his face was only for her. “Not as pretty as you Little Love,” kissing her on her cheek.
What he didn’t realize was while his office door was wide open, someone had walked in.
