Advice Booth
End of the Event

The questions he’d been asked honestly surprised him. Yes, a few were on typical did someone like them. Though he’d been asked other questions. The most surprising question of the day was if someone’s pet loved them. Naturally he said the pet did love them. The fact that the cards and numbers said otherwise were a detail he ignored as it would only worsen the relationship if he had said that truth.

His thoughts were distracted again by the sixth year Hufflepuff girl outside the booth.

Naturally the calls from the girl outside the booth hadn’t changed much during the event. Naturally, he still gulped as he was advertised to be things such as a romantic, knowledgeable on other guys, or worse somehow property of the sixth year Hufflepuff outside. At this point in the event the most scary was he was potentially the main crush of the girl outside. A girl who could likely overhear anything that was said inside the booth.

After all, it wasn’t as if he was capable of casting any sort of charms to prevent them from being overheard if the girl outside put her ear to the wooden walls of the booth. Furthermore there was no roof so the noise went upwards.

This booth wasn’t as well thought as he had thought. Next time he’d insist one of the more charms-capable of the prefects would somehow cast something silencing. Or he’d ensure he had a different assistant. Probably both!

As he heard the door open he decided to try another opener as he said “ As the end of the event draws near the question that brought you here must be a lingering one. Are you looking for advice on anything in particular or just on the general future? “

Either that or the person was trying to find somewhere to hide if this event went south like last years did. He gulped realizing he was trapped in the booth, they were all trapped in the booth if things turned south.

Again, he’d rethink the booth if such an event were ever planned in the future.

Taking a deep breath he said “ It helps to be able to call people things. You can call me Owl, what nickname would you like me to use for you today? “ Oddly the nicknames were getting him information on the people asking the questions. A fact that was the biggest surprise of the day.

OOC: What you say isn’t really anonymous if Bear can recognize your voice, but he’ll try to disguise his own voice and won’t mention if he recognizes you (you can recognize it is Bear too if you want). Feel free to pick which pieces of dialogue you hear above from the girl. Also, at points during the event, the Advice Booth will have a sign saying, “On Break, Will Return in 30 Minutes.” So feel free to have seen that and come back.
When he thought the idea of the advice booth he thought it would be simple and he’d perhaps get to run some numbers and look at some cards. Both of which were activities he enjoyed more than unraveling the consequences of manning the kissing booth, or worse having to awkwardly run any of the other options. Seriously, of the options he got himself into what he thought was the best one.

The catch was he underestimated the force of the Hufflepuff pulling in his customers. He heard her call to them. He gulped as he was advertised to be things such as a romantic, knowledgeable on other guys, or worse somehow property of the sixth year Hufflepuff outside.

Admittedly, he didn’t even think she’d noticed him much besides asking him for homework help in the library constantly. Help he regularly gave her as it often was questions about subjects he was strong at. If he was knowledgeable on these things he’d have a clue if the girl outside the door was putting on a show, or was actually interested in him. Even worse he had no idea how he felt besides complemented.

He couldn’t focus on that now.
Someone entered the compartment and he heard the door shut. Though the compartment he was in stayed unchanged with just having the light from above shine in on the small table in front of him with parchment and a deck of tarot cards.
Every year, your prefects are tasked with hosting an event that the entire school can enjoy. This year, with the help of their professors and more than a bit of magic, you can now enjoy the Valentine Night-Out of 1922! Warming charms are in full swing, but it's nothing when compared to the warmth of those with whom we choose to enjoy this evening – be they friends or something more.

The Tunnel of Love

There's a path paved in heart-shaped stepping stones stuck into the grass. On either side of this path are small garden lanterns fitted with charming blue bell flames on the inside. A little further down, you hear the sound of water sloshing against sturdy surfaces, indicating that you're nearing a body of water.

Should you follow this path, you'll find yourself joining a short line.

For what, you might ask?

The well-lit sign hovering over the already ridiculously bright attraction makes it clear that you've arrived at the "Tunnel of Love". Whether accident, curiosity or a desire for a romantic evening, why not join the line and see what lies inside?

Once you near the front of the line, you will see the small stream that has been created for this very purpose. Every five minutes, a swan-shaped boat appears from the darkness. It releases its passengers before joining the queue to pick up the next pair of star-crossed lovers...or whatever you're telling yourselves you are. Regardless of your status, each boat seats four, two in the front row and two in the back. There will be no squeezing for a third friend who can't bear to be left alone.

Once you depart the bright platform, the night descends into darkness, but only for a moment as you enter the cavern.

Illusions spring to life accompanied by top romantic songs of the year now gone. Cruise down the shimmering stream to the sounds of "Ain't We Got Fun?" by Billy Jones and the Original Dominoes, "Do You Ever Think of Me?" by Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra and "O-H-I-O (O My! O!)" by Al Jolson. We're not accepting suggestions; don't ask.

As you drift further and further along, cherubs descend, pointing their arrows in your direction. The arrows swoosh by, taking with them the lingering scent of roses. Dotted lights dance about, occasionally arranging themselves into shapes. Hearts. Roses. Boxes of chocolates and cute little cherubs. All around you, a garden springs to life, sprouting flowers in shades of red, pink and white until they've completely surrounded you on either side.

The moon appears inside the tunnel, much larger than it would appear outside. It's tinted in pale pink, its glow bathing all those present in light.
Before you know it, the tunnel begins to open up again, and you can see the exit. If you've enjoyed yourself, get back in line for another go!

The Advice Booth

Off to the side of the Valentine's Night Out is a weird-looking booth with a rather simple sign that identifies it as an advice booth. There is a bubbly sixth-year Hufflepuff girl sitting in the front of it calling people over, yelling out as she giggles, “Come hither. Get the advice that will lead you to love," to anyone who walks past.

More accurately put, anyone who walks close enough that she can see them and think she can get their attention.

Occasionally, Bear knocks from the inside compartment he is in, hoping, like he’s said time and time again, that she’d stop sending people to him for love advice. He had much better advice to give his classmates, especially a select few he’d love to say things to under the cloak of animosity. Regrettably, all Bear ever heard was a giggle in response. Little did Bear know that giggle was accompanied by a teasing whisper of “ All I’ll tell you is there is a boy inside who’s a total romantic."

To the boys she’d continue, “ He’ll give you the right advice to get the girl. Don’t worry," loud enough that he could hear the expectation.

To the girls she’d continue, “He’ll give you all tips to catch any guy’s eyes.”

Then she’ll lead you into one of the side doors of the booth where there is a seat. If you look at her with confusion, she says, “What you say is anonymous; he can’t even see you."

To any girl who asks who is inside the booth, she will say in a whisper, like it is a secret so that Bear can’t hear, “Why would I tell you the identity of the one perfectly romantic boy in Hogwarts? He’s going to be mine.”

To any boy who asks, she’ll say, “It’s a secret.”

Then she’ll close the door for your compartment. This will have you met with dark wooden walls behind you and light coming in from the top, as the compartment has no roof.

If you desire a thread of your character getting advice from Bear, post below to sign up, or you can just start one and I’ll have Bear join. For the first person who signs up, the thread is already started, and I plan to, whenever someone joins a starter thread, toss up another for someone else and close the thread (unless you request to squeeze in more than one person into the booth). Though I doubt I’ll stay ahead of people signing up.

You can’t have a party without refreshments!

Throughout the festival, and especially closer to the refreshments, the scent of chocolate wafts through the air, drawing you near. Unmistakable, in the center of the area, is a large chocolate fountain that is pouring the sweet dessert endlessly. Nearest to the fountain is a table with shallow dishes that hold apple slices, strawberries, and sugared citrus wedges. Glass jars dot the back of the table with large wooden picks that should be used to hold the item you want coated in chocolate.
(Please, do not stick your hands in the fountain!)

There are various tables scattered about the area; some with sweets, some with pastries, and some with juices to complement the desserts.

The table with sweets is covered in fancy crystal jars and bowls that hold various different candies from Butterwand & Co. in Hogsmead. Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, Chocolate Wands, Sugar Quills, Chocolate Frogs, Fizzing Whizzbees, Peppermint Toads, and more.

Another table held pastries from the bakery; Pumpkin Pasties, Cauldron Cakes, and every type of Tart you can imagine, along with buckets of warm popcorn.

For those who are a bit more hungry, there is a table that contains more savory foods; Cornish Pasties, small Shepherd’s Pies, Sausage Rolls, and large Roast Chicken Legs (think festival turkey legs).

If you are thirsty, you can find a table that contains bottles of Pumpkin Juice, bottles of Butterbeer, tea, water, and coffee.

Alice is here, ensuring that they do not run out of any of the offerings, very happily without a date (because who wants that drama?). If you need assistance getting anything, she would be more than happy to help.

Just off the main thoroughfare, where the lights grow warmer and the air smells faintly of sugar and roses, you’ll spot it.

A small wooden booth nestled beneath a canopy of red-and-cream stripes, its carved frame wrapped in garlands of hearts and tiny glowing bulbs that pulse gently, as though the structure's own heartbeat is fluttering in arrhythmic beats. Two cherubs hover above, bows drawn but expressions smug, as if they know exactly how this is going to end.

A polished sign hangs proudly at the front, impossible to miss:
A short line tends to form here, though no one seems to mind the wait. Some people shuffle awkwardly. Others lean into it, grinning far too confidently for anyone buying the “just for fun” excuse. Couples whisper. Friends dare each other forward. Occasionally, someone loses a bet.

Behind the counter, the attendants change things up every so often. Sometimes blowing kisses into the air that float briefly before popping like bubbles, sometimes leaning in just enough to make hearts flutter without fully committing. Anticipation is part of the experience, after all.

Whether you’re here because someone dragged you along, because you lost a bet, or because you’re feeling just brave enough to step forward on your own, well....
Five knuts isn’t much, all things considered.

And really… it’s just a kiss.

Right?
