Hogwarts Valentine Night Out Info Thread - Vanishing Cabinet - 01-28-2026

WELCOME TO THE VALENTINE NIGHT-OUT!
Every year, your prefects are tasked with hosting an event that the entire school can enjoy. This year, with the help of their professors and more than a bit of magic, you can now enjoy the Valentine Night-Out of 1922! On this chilly evening of Saturday, February 11, a portion of the Hogwarts grounds has been commandeered for this very purpose. Warming charms are in full swing, but it's nothing when compared to the warmth of those with whom we choose to enjoy this evening – be they friends or something more.
A set of heart-shaped fireworks goes off at 5:30 PM, signalling the beginning of what promises to be a magical evening.
There are many attractions to enjoy, whether alone or with friends, and plenty of lively music to set the mood. If you'd prefer a sweeter treat, the elves have been busy at work preparing delights that are sure to thrill you.
Kissing Booth - It seemed like a good idea. Who wouldn't want a chance to get in a smooch without the entanglements that often come attached? A pretty girl whose books you don't need to worry about carrying after, a strapping boy to make your heart flutter without breaking it after? In theory, this was a good idea. The prefects manning this booth...have made it less so.
Dance Floor - They say that in the wild, some creatures use dancing to attract a mate. It's unlikely that the professors who serve as chaperones for the evening will be allowing any of that hankypanky business, but come bust a move anyhow! You never know; maybe that right person is just waiting to be asked. Even if they aren't, hit the dance floor with your friends and enjoy the magic of a waltz or two beneath the stars.
Chocolate Fountain & Sweet Treats Area - Do NOT stick your hands or face or tongue into the fountain. This is a civilised event, not a gathering of beasts. We don't care how delicious the flowing chocolate looks; we don't care if you lack self-control. There are cups and ladles. Use them. That said, welcome to the sweet treats area, where your dreams and health problems will soar.
Advice Booth - Can't figure out how to gain the attention of a certain someone? Too hopelessly tongue-tied whenever they come close? Why not have a seat in the advice booth? Our resident 'love guru' knows all the ins and outs of getting lucky at love and doesn't even charge! Warning: advice may be wonky, ridiculous, or likely to get you slapped. Take it at your own discretion.
Tunnel of Love - A romantic evening, a boat ride through a dark tunnel that may or may not be aggressively monitored by professors, a few illusions to set the mood. If any of these sound like your kind of Valentine's fun, why not step into one of our love boats and have them row you gently down the stream? The sights inside are sure to inspire. Grab your friends, grab your date – grab a stranger. Just don't ride alone...unless you're into that sort of thing.
Jump into any of these threads, and a prefect will be there to help ensure you're having a great time. Otherwise, feel free to make your own private threads if you've got something more focused in mind.
