Porcupine quills are a standard ingredient in lower-years’ potions, especially in the ubiquitous Cure for Boils.
They seem to amplify reactions that target surface blemishes and skin afflictions.
When added at the wrong time, however, they have a talent for making the cauldron erupt dramatically.
