Silas had been to Diagon Alley many times while living in London. He often went with Lenore, his tutor. The streets were rather barren this particular day. Most people were at work with only a sparce few walking the streets. It was just as well; Silas didn't care for jam packed crowds and today was no different. It was nearly lunch time, and his stomach reminded him that he hadn't eaten a proper breakfast this morning. It was his own fault, he couldn't concentrate on eating. He was too distracted by his excitement with the prospect of getting his very own wand!

Silas and Lenore approached Elder & Ash. "I'll go in by myself if that is alright, Lenore." The woman smiled down at him but had a hint of concern, "Are you sure?" Her inquiry didn't upset Silas. He knew that she, maybe even more so than his own mother, deeply cared for him. Silas smirked and nodded, "Yes I'm sure. No need to worry. I doubt I'll set the place on fire."

Silas opened the door and walked through, hearing the bell ding as he entered. He looked around and saw nothing but boxes and boxes along the walls. From floor to ceiling all he could see was boxes of what were presumedly, wands. He approached the counter with awestruck amazement. Despite coming to Diagon Ally many times, he had never set foot in Elder & Ash. He cleared his throat and said, "Ex...excuse me? I'm here looking for a wand for school." Despite being very introverted, he wasn't timid. His hesitation came from distraction by all the wonderous things going on around him in the shop.

RE: Silas LaCroix - Bernadette Hawthorn - 11-12-2025

“Good day to you! Welcome to Elder and Ash, I am Bernadette…Hmm… Or Bernie or Miss Hawthorn or Witchy McWitchface,” she titters with laughter, high and squeaky. “Don’t you fret, I will answer to just about anything… Except Clyde.” She shakes her head emphatically. “HE is a bowtruckle and can be quite persnickety, so watch your eyeballs, he likes to poke.” She nods at the young student, as if what she said was the most important piece of knowledge to take away from this conversation.

“Can I assume you are here to find your wand? Yes!? Of course! Good Good.” Not waiting for a response, Bernie comes around the counter and begins measuring the patron who just entered her shop. Lifting this arm and that, measuring each individual finger, kneeling and quickly measuring their feet, then popping back up to look deeply, and awkwardly into their eyes. “Fascinating. Did you know a quarter of the bones in your body are in your hand? No?! I didn't think so. OK! Let’s find you a wand. Pop Pop!”

Bernie ran around the shop, spitting out random nonsense facts that most people really didn’t need to know. “Did you know that your left lung is slightly smaller than your right? Did ya? Nope. Why? To make room for your heart? Awwww, so sweet.”

“Ok, let's try this one on for size.” Coming down from a ladder with a long box, Bernie handed the wand over to the student. It was rare to find a match with the first box, but it could be done. “Go on then,” she said, waving her hands about. “Give it a flick.”

Purpleheart Wood Hippogriff Feather Core, 13in Swishy

Purpleheart Wood:
One of the uncommon exotic woods with healing properties. Purpleheart is one exotic wood that should be introduced to a very bright wizard who excels in academics. Purpleheart is a hard wood to control and will often backfire on those who are not strong enough to wield it. Intelligence is key with purpleheart as it is not a very susceptible wand wood and does not take lightly to those who do not know how to use it to its potential. Purepleheart is a purple-brown wood that compliments itself with various shades.

Hippogriff Feather:
Hippogriffs are noble animals with a reputation for not taking a slight. These wands require constant respect, and if the wielder does not give it, they can watch its formerly stable and versatile magic backfire on it. It is not the strongest core, but it is one of the most adaptable. These wands are most common amongst Gryffindors, but they are rare overall.

Swishy < slightly harder to learn and cast, just slightly more powerful

If you love this combo, great! If you like one piece of your wand (core, wood, flexibility, etc.) Put that at the bottom of your next post in an OOC message. I will keep that the same for the next option. Or, I can come up with an entirely new wand. UP TO YOU!

RE: Silas LaCroix - Silas LaCroix - 11-12-2025

Silas was at a loss for words. He had never been around someone so... silly before. At least not around an adult who would act this way in public. He knew some eccentric witches and wizards but they usually were recluses who rarely showed their faces. Normally those type of people gave him an odd feeling and he steered clear of them, but this lady was different. He kind of liked her bubbly personality. Her only issue was that it was hard for him to answer any of her questions or respond to any of her statements. Not because he was an introvert and was a little awkward when it came to social interactions; even though that was true, no, she just wouldn't stop rambling. He couldn't get a word in and honestly didn't know where to pick up on a conversation.

"Nice to meet you Miss Hawthorn. It's a very lovely place you have here. I've walked by it many times but never looked inside. It's "really quite amazing."

Silas eyed her warily and a look of confusion came across his face. 'This lady is a few brooms short of a quidditch team,' he thought to himself. "Yes, I am here for my fir-," before he could finish, Miss Hawthorn had already begun to measure him all over, every inch of him. He wondered how in Merlin's beard did the length of his fingers have anything to do with his wand, but he remained silent as she took stock of him. Silas was not a very touchy-feely person and didn't like to be handled in any way. Still, he kept his protests to himself as he could tell Lenore was watching their interaction from outside the shop.

She then came back after running around the shop like the mad woman she was, and handed him a beautiful wand of purple wood. When he held it in his hand, he could feel something... something different. Was this what Lenore meant when she said that wands can sometimes have a mind of their own?

Silas gripped the wand in his hand and looked at a vase that was in the corner of the room. Doing as Miss Hawthorn instructed, he flicked the wand at it. It shattered immediately and flung debris all over the floor. "Oh my... I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to break your vase," Silas said in a quiet voice. He hoped she wouldn't be mad at him. In his house, his parents were pretty strict when it came to breaking things, despite the fact that they could fix it with magic fairly easily.

"I think perhaps a different wand, although, I do love the purple wood," Silas admitted. He then handed the wand back to Miss Hawthorn and waited for her to pick a different wand for him to try. Hopefully it was something a bit less volatile.

(OOC: I do like the purpleheart wood and length. I think a different flexibility and wand-core would be nice though)

RE: Silas LaCroix - Bernadette Hawthorn - 11-12-2025

“OH FOR THE LOVE OF CHERRY BLOSSOMS! That was NOT the one.” Snatching it out of their hand, Bernie packaged the wand up gingerly, folding the gauze ribbon over the wand as if it were a sleeping baby. The box was carefully placed on the back counter under a sign that read “NOPE!” Those would be cleaned and checked for damage before returning to the shelf.

“Ok, let me think, let me think. Hmm..” Turning abruptly, Bernie went to stare at the poor young soul in her shop. Arms crossed, fingers tapping thoughtfully on her chin. After a couple rotations around the student, she stopped and closed one eye… Then the other. “Did you know there are no muscles in your fingers? No? Shocking! Well… you do now. Ok, I think I have an option.” Skipping up a ladder and over a short walkway Bernie grabbed without even looking and popped down the ladder, coming to stop behind the counter.

“Ok, let's see if this one causes less destruction! One can only hope.”

Purpleheart Wood, Kneazle Whisker Core, 13in Sturdy

Purpleheart Wood:
One of the uncommon exotic woods with healing properties. Purpleheart is one exotic wood that should be introduced to a very bright wizard who excels in academics. Purpleheart is a hard wood to control and will often backfire on those who are not strong enough to wield it. Intelligence is key with purpleheart as it is not a very susceptible wand wood and does not take lightly to those who do not know how to use it to its potential. Purepleheart is a purple-brown wood that compliments itself with various shades.

Kneazle Whisker:
Kneazle wands prefer owners who are very intelligent and vigilant. They are most likely introverts and have trouble trusting people, but can be excellent judges of character. They may judge others too quickly, and behave quite aggressively towards anyone they have chosen to dislike-taking this aggression out on them with their sharp wit or subtle manipulation rather than violence. These wizards are driven, persistent and independent. Their social graces may be lacking, making them somewhat blunt.

Sturdy < slightly less common, harder to learn and cast, slightly more power

Again, if you want this one great, or a portion or a fully new one. YOUR CHOICE! One more option available!
