Personality & History

Personality:
Through all her life, Jelena has always gotten all she has ever wanted.

As the youngest—and only daughter—of a conservative family, her father has always found a way to bend his own rules when it comes to Jelena; she has grown up to be an entitled woman, who has trouble purring herself on anyone else's shoes.

This doesn't mean, at all, that she's in any way malicious—she’s just so accustomed to having someone cleaning up her messes that she has taken it for granted.

Smart and diplomatic, she has a way of getting herself out of impossible situations using her vibrant charisma. She's nice to everyone around her, if a little condescending. Jelena rarely means harm towards other people’s way, but her accidental selfishness can represent a problem nonetheless.

Known for being a flirt, she has left behind a trail of broken hearts, dodging the commitment expected from someone in her social position with the grace of an expert.

History:
Born as the youngest daughter of a Russian diplomat and his socialité wife, Jelena spent most of her life between the cold streets of Moscow and the ancient buildings of a vibrant London, having always preferred the second one.

As their only daughter, she always enjoyed the kind of life her brothers—especially the oldest one, Aleksandr, who was in charge of many family affairs from a young age—were forbidden to live, jumping from party to party since she was a teenager, and causing trouble whenever she went.

She was, by all means, the favorite kid, and it allowed her a certain freedom that shaped her character in her adult years—not always in the best of senses.

At eleven years old, while her father was stationed in London, she received her Hogwarts letter, like all of her brothers—except Alexei, who chose to attend Durmstrang, in pursuit of another type of education, and grew quickly stranded from the family—where the Sorting Hat put her on Gryffindor as soon as it was put over her head, so fast Aleksander liked to joke it had barely touched her head.

Her school years were nothing if memorable. What she lacked in academic results—not because she was scarce on smarts, like some who didn’t really know her said—she compensated by being an absolute force of nature, making friends in the most unexpected ways and organizing some of the wildest parties the castle had ever seen.

After her graduation, she found herself on the path most of the pureblooded girls of her social status were being pushed during the time—engaged to a charming man she barely knew.

And, at first, it seemed like the engagement had been enough to tame Jelena—she thought of him as pleasant enough and wondered if the life her mother had always wanted for her could actually be enough for her.

The evening of the wedding—her family waiting in the church, already in a big, puffy white dress—Jelena pulled one last trick on her family by deciding to flee before vows were ever exchanged.

(And, knowing that, while her brothers might’ve been disowned for such a stunt, her father would’ve never shown the same wrath to her.)

Now, at twenty nine, not much has changed for Jelena. Put by her family in a cushy job that allows her to travel, she keeps on jumping from party to party—and from mess to mess—knowning someone will be behind, covering up all her scandals.

Prompt Response:
She had lost count of the amount of times her father had warned her about pulling one of her stunts at her job. He had gotten it for her, that was certain, but he was not sure about being able to keep it for her if she maintained the hedonistic nature she had become known for around her family’s circles.

Yet, there she was, a coffee in her right hand, running late for the third time of the week.

Not only that, but she was quite sure the Department’s Head had thrown the words “mandatory” and “firing” once or twice a day during the last week.

But, as she slowly made her way across the crowd, she found it difficult to care. If push really came to shove she was sure someone—her father, maybe even one of her brothers—would come forward and save her neck from any irreparable consequences, so, for her, the idea of running around and arriving all covered in sweat and disheveled to her meeting seemed futile.

Making her way towards the fountain in the middle, she even found time to lazily lean forward, a small—if a little conceited, like almost all of hers were—smile curling her rosy lips. Fluffing up her wavy, light brown hair with her free hand, she took a deep breath and turned around, continuing her way towards the place of the meeting.

The office hallway was dead silent—which could only mean, it had already started—and Jelena could only roll her eyes at what seemed, at least for her, like a small inconvenience.

Gently pushing the door, she peeked through it, offering another smile to the first pair of eyes she met, this time amusement glimmering in her own gaze.

“I’m really, really sorry I’m late,” she said, no guilt in her tone as she entered.
