Tulip Asquith - Tulip Asquith - 08-20-2025 4 Years Ago Today was the day, she was finally getting her wand. She wouldn't have to steal Clover's any more when she wanted to try and do spells, she'd be able to do them on her own. Of course Rose had made fun of her over breakfast saying she'd never get a wand as there was a war on and they wouldn't waste good wand wood on delinquents like her. Of course this had started an argument which Mater had broken up and Pa had ignored head burried in the Daily Phophet. But like all arguments in the Asquith House it hadn't lasted long. Especially when the rest of the day promised a trip to Diagon Alley for shopping even if it was school shopping. Clover had plans to meet her friends for lunch, Rose planned to try and get as much shopping down as possible, but for Tulip it was all about the wand. She positivly skipped down the busy street dragging her Pa by the hand the heels of her mum behind and the dark muttering of Rose further still. The small bell above the door made her beam as it made welcoming dinging noise. The shop wasn't full but there was a lot going on and there was a queue. Not that Tulip paid any heed to the queue she was focused solely on her wand. She slipped Pa's hand and dashed to the counter. "I'm here for my wand!" she announced boldley. Welcome to Elder and Ash, I am Bernadette…Hmm… Or Bernie or Miss Hawthorn or Witchy McWitchface,” she titters with laughter, high and squeaky. “Don’t you fret, I will answer to just about anything… Except Clyde.” She shakes her head emphatically. “HE is a bowtruckle and can be quite persnickety, so watch your eyeballs, he likes to poke.” She nods at the young student, as if what she said was the most important piece of knowledge to take away from this conversation. “Can I assume you are here to find your wand? Yes!? Of course! Good Good.” Not waiting for a response, Bernie comes around the counter and begins measuring the patron who just entered her shop. Lifting this arm and that, measuring each individual finger, kneeling and quickly measuring their feet, then popping back up to look deeply, and awkwardly into their eyes. “Fascinating. Did you know a quarter of the bones in your body are in your hand? No?! I didn't think so. OK! Let’s find you a wand. Pop Pop!” Bernie ran around the shop, spitting out random nonsense facts that most people really didn’t need to know. “Did you know that your left lung is slightly smaller than your right? Did ya? Nope. Why? To make room for your heart? Awwww, so sweet.” “Ok, let's try this one on for size.” Coming down from a ladder with a long box, Bernie handed the wand over to the student. It was rare to find a match with the first box, but it could be done. “Go on then,” she said, waving her hands about. “Give it a flick.” Pine with a Boomslang Venom Core, 11in, Fiesty Pine: The straight-grained pine wand always chooses an independent, individual master who may be perceived as a loner, intriguing and perhaps mysterious. Pine wands enjoy being used creatively, and unlike some others, will adapt unprotestingly to new methods and spells. Many wandmakers insist that pine wands are able to detect, and perform best for, owners who are destined for long lives, and I can confirm this in as much as I have never personally known the master of a pine wand to die young. The pine wand is one of those that is most sensitive to non-verbal magic. Boomslang venom, whether crystallized or in a rarer liquid core, provides a small boost to jinxes and hexes thanks to its venomous qualities. However, when a wandmaker undertakes the dangerous task of working with the raw venom, it is generally with the aim of creating a powerful Transfiguration wand. Whether or not the advantages outweigh the risks is not generally agreed upon in wandmaking circles. Fiesty < neither stiff nor flexible, but has a mind of it's own often adding more to spells then the owner wants in amounts of power used ***If you love this combo, great! If you like one piece of your wand (core, wood, flexibility, etc.) Put that at the bottom of your next post in an OOC message. I will keep that the same for the next option. Or, I can come up with an entirely new wand. UP TO YOU! |
