Newts are a classic ingredient in folk magic, more famous for their place in rhyme than their actual potency. In modern brewing, they are usually included for symbolic weight in transformation or “witchy” aesthetic recipes. Students are often disappointed to learn that, magically speaking, a newt is far less dramatic than its reputation.
