What is the Willow Exchange?

At the end of each term, students gather by the whomping willow to reflect on the year they've had and the growth they've undergone. The Willow is our site's version of a skill tree that allows you to unlock new spells and abilities for your character. The tree is divided into three branches of magic to reflect our core schools of magic (charms, transfiguration, and divination). These branches break into smaller branches filled with rewards that can be redeemed in exchange for the galleons your student/adult earns.

NOTE: While you're free to write anywhere on our site without signing up for a report card, your character will not be able to use magic without it.

Earned galleons? WHERE?

Each student, in order to move on to the next year, must complete a list of matriculation requirements. This list will be tiered, and the more items you complete, the more galleons your student will receive as part of a special initiative known as the "Ministry Performance Stipend" (MPS).

A similar list will be provided for our adult characters who wish to advance in their careers over in our Wizarding World forums and will be counted as their end-of-year bonus.

These galleons can be spent on various branches of the willow, OR can be saved if there's something in a price range you can't currently afford. Galleons that are not spent can be carried over to the following term.

I see spells in branches I don’t own. Can I still attempt those?

You are free to attempt anything found within the Willow’s branches as these encompass our magical system however only purchased branches will be successful. Spells cast outside the branches you own will fail.

Where can I check the list and monitor my balance?

Please check here for further details. Each character will be required to apply for their report (including characters written by the same player). It is done this way because each report will need to keep track of any and all skills owned by the individual character.

I have galleons, give me things!
Once you have your report, you will be asked at the end of each term (whether student or adult) to post your "progress report" in your report card/employment report thread in order to determine your eligibility for the Ministry Performance Stipend, as well as your eligibility for moving on to the next school year or any promotions/work bonuses. (Note: if you are requesting a work promotion, the report is the place for this.)

The code below is the template you will post each term. There is one for students, one for professors and two for adults (depending on whether they work for the ministry/st. Mungo’s or a unique career), so be sure you copy the correct one. Once you have posted with links to the activities you have completed (as well as the branches of the Willow you're interested in purchasing), a member of the admin team will verify your report and make the necessary edits to your Willow Tree. Once these edits have been made, you may assume your character is capable of whatever is found in the purchased branches.

We endeavour to have all reports updated by the 20th of each summer month (April, August & December), though delays may occasionally occur.

What threads can I count in my report?

Threads are counted from the prior summer to the end of the current school/work term. This means, for example, that when the summer of 1921 rolls around and it's time to claim activities for your report, you may count any thread started from the previous summer of 1920 until the final day of Term 1920-1921 (before the start of summer 1921). Threads beginning in the summer of 1921 would not be counted toward that report. They would be in the new report generated once the report has been approved. All reports should be complete (whether student or adult) by the 5th of each summer month (April, August, December). That said, initial allowance given for new reports can be claimed at any time.
