Special Requests - Vanishing Cabinet - 07-13-2025 Special Requests
Please read the below to find out about the Special Requests you can apply for! If you are not sure if you need one, feel free to reach out to a member of the staff. Why do I need a special request?
While we want y'all to have a great time on KB and do anything that your brilliant imaginations can come up with, we do have to be sure that our site canon is adhered to.
That said! We are all for hearing your ideas! It's possible we just might add it to the canon! How do I submit one?
Below is a list of types of special requests that you may submit. If you don't see the type below that you want, please feel free to reach out to a staff member. Pets [Please fill this form out.] Hogwarts students may have one pet. The acceptable pets that do not need to be requested are: cats, rats, toads, and owls. Outside of these, here is a list of more unique animals that can also be accepted through a special pet request. When creating this list, animals were considered on the basis of their nature (aggression/overly skittish/required enrichment), the feasibility of suitable indoor housing for such a creature (particularly if they are free to roam), and whether this animal is able to thrive primarily within a closed dorm environment. As such, we will not be accepting requests for pets outside of the ones found on this list at this time; however, amendments may be made in the future. Allowable Pets With Admin Approval:
Plots [Please fill this out.] The things that automatically need to be requested: death (for characters that are 17 and under, or anyone at the castle), torture, or sexual assault. When you submit these things, please ensure that the requested plot makes sense for your character and you are not just doing this for the shock value. Note: We do have a TW (Trigger Warning) system on the site, so be sure you use it. Special Abilities (Wandless, Empath, Animagus, etc.) [Please fill this out.] In order to gain a special ability for your character, you must both meet the requirements outlined for that ability and have the ability unlocked on your Willow. You do not have to wait until both criteria have been met to begin training (with the exception of Legilimency, which requires an application and unlocked Willow branch before applying) as many of these will be considered a work in progress until you are through. Work in progress abilities may not be used by the character, but it is expected that you will have threads in which your character works at/trains to improve in some way. You alone are responsible for tracking your training and submitting it to the admin team at the end of each term for verification. Once your training has been completed successfully, it will be notated in the registry, and your character will receive a badge indicating their special ability. Please see below for timelines: Wandless Magic: Three IC years of training, which consists of one thread per term where your character is actively practicing wandless with a professor, WW adult, or through self-study. These threads must follow the 3x4x4 guideline (3 posts of 4 paragraphs, each containing 4 sentences) minimum.
Empath: Three IC years of demonstrated growth and development. This will consist of one thread per term where your character is actively demonstrating this natural gift. These threads must follow the 3x4x4 guideline (3 posts of 4 paragraphs, each containing 4 sentences) minimum. Animagus: Three IC years of training, which consists of one thread per term where your character is actively practicing and pursuing the ability through self study or under the guidance of a professor/appropriate Ministry official (ie. Magizoologist). These threads must follow the 3x4x4 guideline (3 posts of 4 paragraphs, each containing 4 sentences) minimum. Legilimens: Three IC years of training, which consists of one thread per term where your character is actively training Legilimens with an appropriate Ministry official (ie. Auror, Unspeakable). These threads must follow the 3x4x4 guideline (3 posts of 4 paragraphs, each containing 4 sentences) minimum. Occlumency: Three IC years of training, which consists of one thread per term where your character is actively practicing Occlumency under the guidance of a professor or WW adult. These threads must follow the 3x4x4 guideline (3 posts of 4 paragraphs, each containing 4 sentences) minimum. Special Conditions: We will consider the following special conditions on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the number of active characters already possessing the condition and plotlines submitted to ensure a maintained balance. We reserve the right to deny any of these conditions at our discretion:
Special Magical Artefacts [Please fill this out.] While we don’t have an exhaustive list of artefacts we will allow or disallow, we encourage you to speak to the lore admin prior to submitting your special request to see if the artefact would fit within the universe at the given time. From there, we would encourage you to submit your request for a full admin review. Generally, artefacts that are heavily restricted by the ministry/notably difficult to obtain/unique (It is your own invention or you have tweaked the concept for an artefact already in existence), will require a special artefact request. Original Spells [Please fill this out.] Please be sure that you have consulted our Wizarding Guide to Magic before proceeding to this form as spells that are too similar to what we already have are unlikely to be accepted.. In order to use a spell not already found in the guide, it must first be requested. Once all the information is submitted, the spell will be reviewed by the admin for lore/magic system consistency. You'll be contacted once a decision is made, and if accepted, the spell will be added to the guide. Original Potions [Please fill this out.] In order to use a potion not already found in the HP canon, it must first be requested. Once all the information is submitted, the potion will be reviewed by the admin for lore/magic system consistency. You'll be contacted once a decision is made, and if accepted, the potion will be added to the magical guide found. Be sure to check the current list before apping a new potion, as potions that are too similar are unlikely to be accepted. |
